Response of the ruminant respiratory tract to Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica.
Pneumonia is a leading cause of loss to the sheep and cattle industry throughout the world. Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica is one of the most important respiratory pathogens of domestic ruminants and causes serious outbreaks of acute pneumonia in neonatal, weaned and growing lambs, calves, and goats. M. haemolytica is also an important cause of pneumonia in adult animals. Transportation, ...
متن کاملComplete Genome Sequence of Mannheimia haemolytica Strain 42548 from a Case of Bovine Respiratory Disease
Mannheimia haemolytica is the major bacterial component in the bovine respiratory disease complex, which accounts for considerable economic losses to the cattle industry worldwide. The complete genome sequence of M. haemolytica strain 42548 was determined. It has a size of 2.73 Mb and contains 2,888 genes, including several antibiotic resistance genes.
متن کاملComparative Genomic Analysis of Mannheimia haemolytica from Bovine Sources
Bovine respiratory disease is a common health problem in beef production. The primary bacterial agent involved, Mannheimia haemolytica, is a target for antimicrobial therapy and at risk for associated antimicrobial resistance development. The role of M. haemolytica in pathogenesis is linked to serotype with serotypes 1 (S1) and 6 (S6) isolated from pneumonic lesions and serotype 2 (S2) found in...
متن کاملBacteriological and therapeutic studies on Mannheimia haemolytica and Pasteurella multocida in bovine respiratory disease at dairy cattle farms in Tehran
In this study, we performed a bacteriological investigation on bovine respiratory infections. Additionally, the study evaluates the efficacy of florfenicol 30 µg produced by Rooyan Darou Company (test group) as compared to a similar drug produced by Aboraihan Company (control group). Sampling was carried out on 30 calves at two farms with 30-55% incidence rate of respiratory disorders. Nasophar...
متن کاملInflammatory cytokines enhance the interaction of Mannheimia haemolytica leukotoxin with bovine peripheral blood neutrophils in vitro.
Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica A1 produces several virulence factors that play an important role in the pathogenesis of bovine pneumonic pasteurellosis. Foremost among these is a leukotoxin (LKT) that specifically kills ruminant leukocytes. Recent evidence suggests that M. haemolytica LKT binding to bovine leukocytes is mediated by the beta(2)-integrin CD11a/CD18 (lymphocyte function-asso...
